Why Group Coaching Is Better for Your Financial Goals

Prefer to listen? Hit play below – and hear why I recommend group coaching to those who want to reach their financial goals faster.

When most people decide they want help with their money, their first instinct is usually:

“I should find someone to work with one-on-one.”

And that can be a great option, but here’s my hot take:

When it comes to your finances, group coaching might actually help you make progress faster.

Not because one-on-one coaching isn’t valuable. But because money isn’t just about numbers.

It’s about confidence. It’s about accountability. And maybe most importantly, it’s about realizing you’re not the only one figuring this out.

We Think We Have to Figure Money Out Alone

Money can feel incredibly personal.

We keep our income private. We worry that we’re asking “stupid” questions. We assume everyone else understands taxes, retirement accounts, pricing, or investing better than we do.

So we keep it close to the chest.

The problem?

Isolation makes money feel heavier than it needs to be.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned—both as a coach and as a business owner—is that financial confidence grows faster when you’re surrounded by people who are working toward similar goals.

The Mastermind That Changed My Mind

Back in 2020, I joined my first business mastermind.

Like many people, I assumed I was joining because of the coach. And yes, the coaching was incredible! But what surprised me most was everything I learned from the other people in the room.

Whenever someone sat in the “hot seat” to get coached, I found myself taking just as many notes as they were.

Sometimes their challenge wasn’t even the same as mine, but hearing how they approached pricing, marketing, mindset, or growth helped me solve problems I didn’t even realize I had.

That’s when I realized something important: Sometimes the greatest value in coaching comes from the community, not just the coach.

Think of It Like a Pilates Class

Here’s the analogy I always come back to.

Imagine you’ve never taken Pilates before.

You could book a private lesson.

Or you could join a beginner class.

In a beginner class, everyone is learning together. If you wobble, someone else is wobbling too. If you’re confused, chances are someone else has the exact same question.

The instructor is still guiding everyone. But you’re also learning from the people beside you. There’s something incredibly reassuring about realizing you’re not the only beginner in the room.

Money coaching works the same way.

Sometimes Someone Else Asks the Question You Were Too Afraid to Ask

One of my favorite things about group coaching is this:

Someone inevitably asks the question everyone else was secretly wondering.

Maybe they’re asking how tax brackets work. Maybe they’re confused about retirement accounts. Maybe they’re nervous about raising their prices.

You might have been sitting there thinking:

“I’m so glad someone else asked that.”

Instead of feeling embarrassed, you feel relieved. Instead of wondering if you’re behind, you realize you’re surrounded by people learning right alongside you.

The Best Ideas Often Come From People Outside Your Industry

One thing I intentionally do inside Breadwinner is bring together creatives from completely different industries.

Photographers.

Artists.

Writers.

Therapists.

Musicians.

Store owners.

Filmmakers.

At first glance, those businesses seem completely unrelated.

But that’s exactly why the conversations are so valuable.

A photographer might learn new ideas about product sales from a brick-and-mortar shop owner.

A retailer might discover seasonal revenue strategies from a wedding photographer.

A virtual assistant might inspire a filmmaker to package services differently.

When everyone around you runs the exact same kind of business, it’s easy to assume there’s only one way to do things.

When you’re surrounded by people with different experiences, you begin seeing possibilities you never considered before.

Sometimes You Need to Hear It From Someone Besides Your Coach

This might be my favorite lesson.

Have you ever ignored advice from your mom…

…only to hear the exact same advice from a friend and suddenly think it was brilliant?

Same advice. Different messenger.

The same thing happens in coaching.

I might tell someone to raise their prices. Or start investing. Or finally open that retirement account.

Sometimes it lands. Sometimes it doesn’t.

But then another member shares their experience.

They talk about finally raising their rates. Or opening their Roth IRA. Or paying themselves consistently.

And suddenly the advice feels possible.

Sometimes we need proof before we need instruction. Watching someone else succeed often gives us permission to believe we can do it too.

Accountability Feels Different When You’re Part of a Community

Accountability isn’t about someone checking whether you did your homework. It’s about knowing someone else is rooting for you.

When you’re working toward a big financial goal alongside other creatives, you celebrate each other’s wins.

You ask questions.

You share ideas.

You encourage each other through the hard seasons.

That kind of support is hard to recreate on your own. Progress feels lighter when you’re carrying it together.

Financial Confidence Doesn’t Have to Be a Solo Journey

There’s absolutely a place for one-on-one coaching.

But if your goal is to build lasting financial confidence—not just get answers to a few questions—community can be one of the most powerful tools you have.

Because the truth is… You don’t just need information.

You need encouragement.

You need accountability.

You need perspective.

And sometimes, you just need someone sitting next to you saying, “Me too.”
