The Magic of Get Sh*t Done Calls

Creative businesses rarely stall because you don’t know what to do. They stall because life happens—clients, kids, launches—and the “I’ll do it later” tasks pile up.

Inside Breadwinner, our monthly Get Sh*t Done (GSD) calls are the antidote: a live, body-doubled hour where you sit down, open the tab you’ve been avoiding, and finish the thing—with me nearby to unstick you fast.

GSD calls turn “I’ll do it later” into “done.” With cheerleaders.

Why We Added GSD Calls

When Breadwinner launched, we had one focused teaching call each month—cash flow, pricing, taxes, retirement, debt, entity choices. Members loved learning, but implementation still slid to the bottom of the to-do list.

The accountability nudges in the group chat helped; people declared a goal and I followed up. Still, the end of the month arrived and… life. GSD calls grew out of that gap. Same community, same support—now with dedicated time to do.

What GSD Calls Are (in plain English)

Think of it as quiet, purposeful coworking. Cameras on or off; mic on or off. You come with one money task you’ve been procrastinating. If you hit a snag, you screen-share and I walk you through it so momentum doesn’t die on a tech hiccup or a scary button.

You leave with progress you can point to—not just notes about what you should do later.

What You Can Knock Out in a Single Session

Members (and I!) have used GSD calls to:

  • Catch up bookkeeping and reconcile those stubborn months
  • File taxes (yep—screen share + submitted before the deadline)
  • Send “scary” emails (renewals, price increases, scope changes)
  • Forecast cash flow for the next 1–3 months and set revenue levers
  • Rework pricing using the Breadwinner profitability worksheet
  • Switch banks / set buckets and confirm everything routes correctly
  • Design & launch a new offer (calculator → page → IG post, live)
  • Pay quarterly estimates (books → calculate → pay—done)
  • Open & fund retirement (Roth/SEP/solo 401k—accounts and transfers)
  • Set a consistent owner’s pay (plan the number + automate transfers)

TL;DR: if it lingers on your list because it’s “annoying,” “confusing,” or “I could break something,” bring it to GSD.

Why Creatives Love Them

There’s real magic in body doubling: watching other humans work keeps you working. Add quick “unstick” support and the avoidance loop breaks. Each completion becomes a confidence rep—you’re no longer the person who avoids QuickBooks or freezes at tax time; you’re the person who logs in, fixes the thing, and moves on.

How to Prep (so you maximize the hour)

  1. Pick one primary task (and a tiny backup).
  2. Gather logins, docs, and numbers you’ll need.
  3. Decide your “definition of done” (e.g., “price email drafted + sent to 3 clients”).
  4. Join the call and… do the thing.

The Bigger Purpose

Breadwinner isn’t designed for you to rely on me forever—it’s about building your money confidence so you can understand your tax plan, give yourself a raise, read your numbers, and make decisions without dread. GSD calls are the bridge between learning and autonomy. Over time, members find that the tasks they once avoided become routine—and the emotional load around money gets lighter.

A Few Favorite Wins

On one call, a member filed her entire tax return—live—after we sanity-checked her entries. Another rebuilt pricing using the profitability worksheet and stopped selling the offer that was secretly eating margin. Several people opened retirement accounts for the first time and actually transferred the money in. None of these are flashy. All of them change businesses.

Episode Recap (skimmable)

  • GSD calls = structured co-working + support to finish the tasks you avoid.
  • They evolved from our accountability check-ins in the group chat—now you get live help.
  • Common wins: bookkeeping, taxes, pricing, retirement, cash-flow planning, rate-increase emails, banking cleanups.
  • The result? Momentum, clarity, and confidence—not just information.
